ഈയിടയുണ്ടായ റെവന്യൂ സർവ്വേ പരിഷ്ക്കാരത്തിൽ ദോഷം പറ്റിയിട്ടുള്ളത് ആഫീസ് കീഴ് ജീവനക്കാർക്കാണത്രെ. ഇവരാണ് പോലും ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടി പണി ചെയ്തു, ഈ ഡിപ്പാർട്മെന്റ് മേലധികാരിക്ക് ബഹുമതി ഉണ്ടാക്കിക്കൊടുത്തത്. അതിലേക്ക് പ്രത്യുപകാരമായി വീടുകളിൽ പോയി സുഖമെടുത്തു കൊള്ളാൻ, ഇവരിൽ 87 ആളുകൾക്ക് സർവ്വേ സൂപ്രണ്ട് ചീട്ട് കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു. നാട്ടും പുറങ്ങളിലുള്ള സാധുക്കളായ വസ്തു ഉടമസ്ഥരുടെ പ്രയാസാർജ്ജിതമായ സമ്പത്തിൽ വലിയൊരു ഓഹരിയെ "നീരട്ട രക്തം ഉറുഞ്ചി കുടിക്കുന്ന" പോലെ, കൈവശപ്പെടുത്തി, ആയിരക്കണക്കിനു സമ്പാദ്യം നേടിയിട്ടുള്ള സർവ്വയരന്മാർക്കു ഈ പരിഷ്ക്കാരത്തിൽ അഥവാ ആഫീസ്സിലെ സ്വല്പ ശമ്പളക്കാരായ ജീവനക്കാരുടെ കശാപ്പിൽ പ്രോത്സാഹനമാണ് ലഭിച്ചിരുന്നതെന്നു കേൾക്കുമ്പോൾ, ആർക്കാണ് ആശ്ചര്യം തോന്നാത്തത്? പന്ത്രണ്ടും പതിനഞ്ചും രൂപാ മാസപ്പടി വാങ്ങിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്ന പത്തു പതിനെട്ടു സർവയർമാരെ, 25 ക ശമ്പളത്തിൽ താലൂക്ക് സർവയര്‍മാരായി കയറ്റം ചെയ്ത് കണ്ടെഴുത്തുപൂര്‍ത്തിയായ താലൂക്കുകളിലേക്ക് ഈയിടെ നിയമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഗവൺമെന്റു കാണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന മൌഢ്യസൂചകമായ മറ്റൊരു നടവടി ഇതുവരെ ബന്തോവസ്തിൽ വച്ചിരുന്ന ഒറിജിനൽ സർവേ റിക്കാർഡുകളെ, ഈ സർവയർമാരുടെ പക്കല്‍ അതാതു താലൂക്കുകളിൽ കൊണ്ടു പോകാൻ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതാണ്. പ്ളാട്ടിങ്ങ് എന്നു പറയപ്പെടുന്ന പ്ലാനെഴുത്തു വേലയിൽ, പൂർണ്ണ ജ്ഞാനവും പഴക്കവും സിദ്ധിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത ഇവർ, എങ്ങനെയെല്ലാം മാന്തി കീറുന്നുവെന്നു കണ്ടതിനു മേലെ അറിയാവൂ. ഇതുവരെ യാതൊരു അഴിമതിക്കും സംഗതിയാകാതെ, ഹെഡ് സർവേയർ ഓഫീസിൽ നിന്ന് ന്യായമായ ഫീസ്സു വാങ്ങി കക്ഷികളുടെ അപേക്ഷ പ്രകാരം സർവേ പ്ലാനിന്റെ പകർപ്പെഴുതിച്ചു കൊടുത്തുമിരുന്ന പതിവിനെ മാറ്റി മേലാൽ ആ ചുമതലയെ താലൂക്ക് സർവേയർമാരെ ഏള്‍പിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ യാതൊരു കുഴപ്പവും നിലവിളിയും ഉണ്ടാകാതിരിക്കാൻ ഡിവിഷൻ പേഷ്‌കാരന്മാർ മുമ്പിൽകൂട്ടി നിഷ്കർഷിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്

Junior employees are the ones who have suffered in the recent revenue survey reform. These are the people who worked hard and brought honour to the head of the department. As a reciprocal gesture, 87 of these people have been given notice by the Superintendent of Survey to go home for recuperation. Who would not be surprised to hear that the surveyors, who had raked in thousands by appropriating a large share of the hard-earned wealth of bona fide property owners at home and abroad, similar to "the leeches sucking blood," were encouraged by this reform and by the slaughter of low-paid office workers? Tento 18 of these surveyors, who were drawing 12 to 15 rupees a month, have recently been promoted as taluk surveyors with a salary of Rs.25. Another foolish move by the government is that the original survey records, hitherto kept securely, have been entrusted to these surveyors to be taken to their respective taluks.
We must wait to see how these people, who have not attained full knowledge and experience in the plan-writing work called plotting, would deal with the work. So far, the practice of the Head Surveyor's office was to give a copy of the survey plan on the request of the parties after getting a reasonable fee from them, without any hint of corruption. This has now been changed. The Divisional Peshkars should confirm, in advance, that there will be no confusion or outcry when the task is handed over to the Taluk surveyors.
